HFCS is High Fructose Corn Syrup. We have talked about how SUGAR, is the main culprit for inflammation in the body, the start of disease causes diabetes and obesity as well as insulin resistance. Last week specifically went through how Fructose is 10-20x more glycating (damaging and aging) to the body than glucose is. So, Healthy Challenge #2, cut out all HFCS, TODAY! Actually, throw away everything with HFCS!
Look for these foods in your kitchen, read the ingredient label and if it has high fructose corn syrup……….. throw it out!
- Soda (stop soda altogether!)
- Candy
- Sweetened or flavored yogurt (cow, goat, and sheep yogurt can have it added)
- Salad dressing
- TV dinners, frozen pizza
- Bread, buns
- Canned fruits, like fruit cocktail
- Premade Juice, vegetable, and fruit
- Boxed dinners: mac n cheese, powdered cheese
- Granola bars, cereal bars, energy bars, pop tarts
- Breakfast cereal
- Condiments: ketchup, mustard, barbecue or steak sauce, relish
- Chips, cookies, crackers
- Coffee Creamer
- Sports drinks, energy drinks
- Jam and jelly
- Ice cream
- Applesauce
- Flavored oatmeal
- Cold cut meat
- Peanut butter
- Maple Syrup
- Flavored milks
- Mayonaise spreads
- Canned soup
- Canned tomatoes
- Cranberry sauce
